Another year goes by and another Call of Duty has been revealed by Activision. Most players have their fingers crossed hoping that Call of Duty Vanguard will be a little more impressive than Black Ops Cold War, and after the recent open beta, it’s looking like the game’s going back to the gameplay style of Modern Warfare.
Whether or not this is a good thing depends on whether you prefer a quicker or slower pace when playing COD. Regardless, before you all go out and get cheats on day one, we’ve put together a few guides so that you know what you’re getting into. In today’s article, we’re going to look at some of COD Vanguard’s most exciting new features.
This feature has been a hallmark of the Battlefield franchise for a long time, and COD players have usually had to content themselves with the ability to wallbang their opponents. However, with the release of COD Vanguard, we’re going to see some of the most detailed destruction ever featured in a COD game.
For example, you can destroy weak-looking walls by simply tactical sprinting through them, but that’s not the only damage you’ll be able to do to the environment. You can take out pieces of furniture, crates, and many other features that were once a static part of the map that you just had to play around.
This feature is one of the additions that we’re more skeptical about because we simply don’t know how many times players will find it useful. While weapon mounting at least had a few situational advantages, especially when it came to reducing recoil, blind fire is a little harder to use.
We expect that this feature will be useful in more closely-packed game modes where players are advancing down hallways shoulder to shoulder. Unfortunately, the inability to see what you’re firing at severely limits what you’ll be able to do when you blind fire because you’ll rarely know if someone is even there.
Making a reappearance after Modern Warfare, the mounting system is back and better than ever. Instead of being locked in place when you mount your weapon in Vanguard, you’ll be able to move along the point of cover as if you were on rails. For example, you would be able to strafe left and right if you mounted your gun to a horizontal surface like a countertop.
Combat pacing is perhaps the most exciting new development in COD Vanguard because it means that players will be able to choose what kind of experience they want, independent from the map.
This means that you’re able to play intense games like the ones you would experience on Nuketown on any map because the game will simply pack more players into a match. However, if you like the idea of larger ground-war type battles, combat pacing will allow you to get into matches that are exclusively that size too.
