The Best Guns in the Battlefield 2042 Open Beta

The Battlefield 2042 beta has arrived and it’s given us our first look of the weapons that are going to be available in the full game. Players are excited to see that most of the weapons are grounded in reality and that they aren’t the kind of futuristic works of fiction that many gamers were expecting.

This fits the game’s near-future vibe and it ensures that many of the weapons are familiar to gamers who have played Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4. In today’s article, we’re going to take a look at some of the top weapons that were featured in the Battlefield 2042 open beta.

PBX-45

The PBX-45 is the closest futuristic example that you’ll find to something like a UMP-45. However, the main difference between this gun and the UMP of previous Battlefield titles is that it has a higher rate of fire, making it kick like a mule, so you’ll need to put some effort into controlling the weapon.

Thankfully, the PBX-45’s recoil is mainly focused on the vertical plane, meaning that it will be a lot easier for you to control it than something that has heavy sideways recoil. If you’re looking for an SMG that is relatively beginner-friendly, then this may be one of the better options available.

K30

Based on how it looks, the K30 is nearly an exact copy of a second-generation Vector SMG, and this is considered one of the best weapons in the game thus far. This is because of the typical features of the Vector that you may have remembered from other games: an extremely high rate of fire and a low amount of recoil.

This makes the K30 a lot easier to control than other weapons in its class, including the PBX-45. However, the tradeoff is that the K30 runs through ammo a lot faster than the PBX-45 due to its higher rate of fire as well as its lower damage per bullet, meaning that it may not be as suitable for taking out a squad.

M5A3

The M5A3 is an exciting addition to the game and it looks like it will be the main Western-style assault rifle, at least from what we’ve seen so far. The gun looks like it’s based on the SIG MCX, and its stability seems to support that point. This stability makes the M5A3 a perfect option for longer engagement ranges.

If you’re trying to fight targets at medium- to long-range, you won’t be disappointed by this assault rifle’s accuracy. To make the most of it, we’d recommend equipping this rifle with a scope, an extended barrel, and high-power rounds so that you can maximize the damage that you do at range.

LCMG

The LCMG is the only weapon in the LMG class available during the Battlefield 2042 open beta, and it looks like a pretty balanced choice for gamers getting their footing with these kinds of weapons. Many high-power LMGs are difficult to control, but that’s not the case with this gun.

The LCMG features a bit of a slower rate of fire, but it makes up for it with a large magazine capacity that will help make it deadlier when engaging squads with sustained fire. One of the more exciting attachments for this weapon is its high-power rounds, which allow you to damage vehicles by firing at them.

DM7

The DM7 is a marksman rifle that is clearly based on the same platform as the M5A3, which already excels at longer ranges. When you take that and turn it into a DMR, it becomes something far deadlier and this was one of our favorite weapons in the beta, provided you could make accurate shots.

For example, the longer barrel means that this weapon has improved bullet velocity by default. You can also equip AP ammunition on it so that you can do damage to any vehicles that come across your path. We’d recommend using a scope with this weapon to make the most of it at longer ranges.

SWS-10

If you like quickscoping your targets or if you prefer sniper rifles that are able to handle better, the SWS-10 is a great choice. This is the only real sniper rifle available in the beta for Battlefield 2042, unless you count the aforementioned DM7 as one, though we would rather classify that as a DMR.

The SWS-10 features a bolt action but it has a surprisingly high rate of fire because your soldier works the bold pretty fast. The gun also features a pretty spacious magazine of about eight rounds, allowing you to put some serious dents into any enemy squads that come within range of you.

MCS-880

The only shotgun that was available in the Battlefield 2042 open beta was the MCS-880 shotgun, but it was a pretty good one. It handles like the M870 from previous games, featuring a pump action and some pretty good pellet spread that allows you to engage targets at slightly longer ranges than you would expect.

The MCS-880 features slightly more limited attachment customization than other weapons in Battlefield 2042, but you can change the ammunition that you’re using from buckshot to slugs. This will allow you to turn your MCS-880 into what is essentially a smoothbore cannon that spits lead at longer ranges.

G57

By taking a quick look at the G57, it’s pretty easy to see that the weapon is based on a Glock handgun, and it’s a pretty straightforward weapon. Like most sidearms, it doesn’t feature very in-depth customization, meaning that you can pretty much only equip it with a micro red dot sight to make it easier to keep sight of your targets.

M44

The M44 is the second pistol that you can get in the Battlefield 2042 beta, and it’s a .44 caliber revolver that packs quite a punch but features a lower rate of fire. This weapon is powerful enough to take out players at longer ranges than the G57, but it requires a bit more skill to get the most out of.
