Fortnite’s second chapter has finally come to a close, and we were all getting a little sick of aliens and cubes. With the release of Chapter 3, it seems like thigns have gotten a bit more normal for Fortnite, but there have been a few changes that are anything but normal, and we’ll sum them up today.
We’ll start by taking a look at some of the major changes that have hit the environment and the map itself. After that, we’ll go over some of the new gameplay mechanics that have been introduced in Chapter 3. Finally, we’ll take a look at some of the features of the new Battle Pass.
The most notable change in Chapter 3 of Fortnite is the fact that the map’s biomes have been switched around. For the time being, the vast majority of the map is covered in snow, with a few biomes like a desert and a forest existing near the eastern edges of the map. As the holiday season goes by, the snow will likely start thawing.
Keep in mind that biome changes are the least of your worries when it comes to map changes with the release of Chapter 3. The whole map has been flipped around, meaning that both old and new players will have to get used to a range of changes that they likely weren’t expecting at the end of the last chapter.
If you’re an old salt in Fortnite, it likely won’t take you too long to get used to things. If you’re new to the game, this shouldn’t be an issue because you likely didn’t know the map well enough for the changes in this chapter to throw you too far off of your bearings. In fact, this may be the best time for new players to get into Fortnite.
There are also some new gameplay mechanics that have been introduced with the start of this chapter, including the ability to slide. Like in competing games, you’ll slide further if you’re going downhill and you’ll also be able to use the slide in combat since you’ll still be able to shoot at the same time.
Aside from that, the MK-Seven assault rifle now allows you to aim down sights, making it a versatile and accurate weapon and opening up that door for other Fortnite weapons in the future.
Finally, this update has also introduced Spider Man’s web shooters, allowing you to make your way around the map far quicker than you could previously (and you’ll have more fun while doing it).
